Advisory committee-volunteers needed

 AgaSha Group Ltd would like to invite 02 volunteers from Agribusiness Platform WhatsApp groups that are willing to be part of  the advisory team for developing digital Agribusiness directory networking tool. They will be working with 02 volunteers representing aBi Implementing Partners.

The team will participate in the following activities:

1) provide feedback of the suggested system,

2) participate in final stage of recruiting key project service providers and personnels, 

3) test and provide feedback on the developed system before it is being used by the general public

4) launch of the product to the general public

5) and any other activities that may be vital for the success of the project

The team will meet virtually on Skype/Zoom atleast once a quarter (every 3 months) within 12 months (at least 4 times in a year). However, we expect the person to communicate professionally via e-mail, on phone or Whatsapp in case of any inquiries.

AgaSha team prefers working with a person that has IT background; has been active on the farming WhatsApp groups and/or online business networking platforms of different organizations; and has 5 to 15 years practical experience of working within Uganda's farming and Agricultural sector and/or with the Agricultural supporting businesses and organizations.

 Job opportunities at Agasha Group Ltd as per 30th November 2020.

Agasha Group Ltd and it's partners have sponsored initial stages of developing a digital Agribusiness Directory platform in Uganda to facilitate Agricultural stakeholders in networking and collaborating effectively and competitively during and post COVID-19 period. The project will start from 2020 to 2021 for a period of 12 months. Due to COVID-19, all the staff and collaborating partners will work virtually from their homes, offices or in safe places. COVID-19 SOPs will be strictly followed where a physical meeting is inevitable. The following vacancies are available:

1) Project Coordinator (Internal Staff only. Job description circulated internally)

2) Project Administrator/Marketing (open to Ugandan residents only with a National ID. Shortlisted candidates will need to provide NIN verification letter from NIRA)

Project Administrator/Marketing

General Duties and Responsibilities:

The project administrator will work virtually from a safe place. He/she will be responsible for the following:

1)  Search and create a stakeholder database in Excel, Word and PDF in Agricultural and supporting sector within and out of Uganda 

2) Verify the collected database via phone and/or on email or through desktop review

3) Enter the collected data onto the website through admin area

4) Approve or reject information submitted by the members on the website.

5) Promote the website on different social media channels and represent the company in various offline events (if it is relevant to the project)

6) Seek for subscribers, advertisers and partners that want to be members on the platform

7) Collect membership fee and advertisement payments from the subscribers

8) Enter different transactions in an online financing and accounting system

9) Collaborate with the project team, partners, committee and clients using online team work platform to achieve the set goals, tasks and targets.

10) Plan and organize virtual and where possible physical meetings with the team, partners and other stakeholders

11) Generally support the project coordinator in developing the digital agribusiness directory platform.

12) Prepare accurate bank reconciliation statements

13) Establish, implement, continuously review and where necessary improve financial policies and procedures and ensure that they are being adhered to.

14) And any other duties that may come up during the project implementation process or that the project coordinator assigns.

Minimum qualifications:

1. Diploma in Business Administration or Project Management or in Finance management and Accounts or Agribusiness Management or Entrepreneurship

2. Certificate in website management, marketing or social media management

Basic skills and experience:

1. Substantial knowledge on computer usage and Microsoft Office Suite

2. At least 2 years working in a team on project management

3. Willing to work from home and report online.

4. Can work with less or no supervision to achieve the targeted goals and willing to work under pressure.

5. At least 1 year in website administration or back-end Management.

6. At least 2 years of working using online finance and accounts systems.

7. Fluent in speaking and writing English (Luganda speaking candidates have added advantage).

8. Fluent in phone call, Skype, Zoom, email and social media communication.

9. Basic knowledge on working using online team work and collaboration systems.

10. Has capacity and basic knowledge of marketing digital products and can acquire a customer through a phone call.

11. Available to do desktop practical interview and attend one physical team interview.

12. Has previously worked with a team in data collection, sorting, categorizing, analyzing, verification and publishing.

13. Has sufficient knowledge on the key value chain actors in Agricultural sector of Uganda

We are now looking for a Deputy Sustainability Manager to join our team.

Job Title:  Deputy Sustainability Manager
Duty Station: Namanve,Kampala
Reports to: Regional Sustainability Manager

General Duties and Responsibilities:
As a senior member of our sustainability team, this role will work in close collaboration with the Regional Sustainability Manager and will be responsible for a number of certified value chains and special projects. It will be the responsibility of this role to design and implement specific growth strategies for setvalue and supply chains including high profile projects.  This will involve driving the strategic direction for the field teams including setting and monitoring field team goals, efficiencies and targets and ensuring certification standards are met and maintained.  This post holder will also be responsible for managing and allocating costs for critical funding projects.

In an operating environment that aims to make a difference in the livelihoods of tens of thousands of households, this role will also be responsible for creating and delivering innovative and robust projects, partnering with various organisations, from initial concept through to project sign off and implementation.

Qualifications, Skills and Experience
We are looking for someone with the following skills and experience:
  1. Passion for sustainable agriculture and trade and the great outdoors! Field work and regular travel within Uganda will be a large part of this role.
  2. Significant work experience at a senior level within the agricultural industry, NGO and/or consultancy sector, ideally with experience of certified / sustainable value chains in East Africa. 
  3. Experience of managing and leading large teams across several sites and in remote areas.
  4.  Proven experience in fund acquisition and project management delivery in a similar capacity and involving sizeable and high profile accounts.
  5. Strong experience in creating, managing and implementing financial budgets including being accountable for spend and delivery. 
  6. Excellent Microsoft Office Skills including Word, Excel and Powerpoint
  7. Excellent verbal and written communication skills including presentation and public speaking skills.  
  8.  Experience that balances both practical field work and office work
  9. The ability to work independently, have a critical and analytical mind and results driven
  10.  Experience with access to finance and (digital) M&E systems is an advantage.
